Lacks Toughness April 18, 2010 Raymond Seneres (Raleigh, NC USA) This model seems to get over-hyped for its features, but I recommend looking elsewhere for a better model. After only a few weeks on the job, the lower blade guard cracked near it's hub, causing it to hit the blade. The saw may be of light weight, but it comes at the expense of low-quality materials that do not belong on a power tool. This saw is not rugged enough, and several other people have experienced the same breakage of the same part.
Stripped quick change bolt March 30, 2010 Mark L. (Bay Area, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Do not buy. It's a nice saw, but the quick change bolt strips easily, and the repair shop near me is unable to fix it. Cheap part, expensive failure.
pro carpenter January 16, 2010 S. Lipman (LA, USA) Over the years I have bought 3 of these saws, however the new version is heavier and less well balanced than previous ones. Also Porter Cable have chosen to sell the saw with a canvas bag instead of the sturdy plastic case it came in before (the new saw does not fit in the case that the previous model came in either). The saw barely fits in the canvas bag with the zipper straining to close. Furthermore you can't put a spare blade in the bag because 1) the bag is too small and 2) it would shred the bag to pieces. This is a problem because you don't want to throw a spare blade in with your hand tools or in the back of your truck. Perhaps consider the Milwaukee instead ??
Its OK September 30, 2009 Sarah A. Clark (NW Arkansas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It works OK. Nothing now is made like it used to be though.
I like the blade on the left but takes a bit of getting used to.

I'm not sure why all right-handed saws do not have the blade on the left side. This thing is powerful and light. This is my go-to saw. I like the balance better than a worm-drive, but for monster cutting, it's good to have one of those, too. You can never have too many tools, although several saws is a luxury. I also have a trim saw for small jobs, but as a starter I would get this. It will do it all for you.
