good router July 26, 2010 rocky Used this router, only the fixed though since purchase, would recommend for use. had no problems and was in 9.5/10 cosmetic condition when recieved
Wonderful Value June 2, 2010 B. Kalish I got this when my sister got me a set of router bits. Since then I've used it to rout inset hand prints and free hand lettering into an oak picture frame, do edge finishing on the same project, and to cut dadoes and rabits into pine and finish edges for a knotty pine toy chest. No matter the material, it has worked great. I was unable to see any difference in quality between this reconditioned router and a new one. I only regret that I haven't had an opportunity to use the plunge base- generally the fixed base has been most in line with the type of work that I have been doing. Although table like results are doable with a good strait edge and jig set-up, I recommend getting a table to aid with any advanced furniture type work you may want to do. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a good entry level router.
Not too acurate January 29, 2010 O. Koerner (TX, USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I ordered this router to cut different joints etc. The plunge depth adjustment does not allow for repeatable accuracy. Also, the router motor can be flexed in the base attachment, resulting in inaccurate cuts. The router arrived in a box without any type of padding material. It was fine, but that's just not a good way to ship a tool.
Another little feature I personally don't like is that the base is not round. It has part of the circular section cut off, probably for use with a guide edge of some sort. This hasn't worked well for me in practice, because it is a little difficult to keep this section perfectly flat against a guide. When that happens the distance of the cutter to the guide is effectively changed, resulting in a cut that is off. A completely round base would not have this problem. You only have one arbitrary to keep against your guide.
I like the power and the adjustable speed, but that by itself does not make a useful router. If you only want to profile edges this might be good.
I would not recommend anyone seriously interested in doing any kind of joinery buy this router.

The router has become the favorite tool in my shop- I find myself using it more and more with every new project

The first router I received was defective. The plunge base would hang up and the motor wouldn't rev up to its designed RPM. The unit was obviously not reconditioned as advertised. I received a replacement a week later and the unit works great.
