Light and easy to start August 21, 2010 Danny Crull Light and very easy to pull start, If you have used a chain saw before you will love this for medium duty cutting. Runs and looks like brand new for a recon.
Reconditioned Poulan Pro 20" August 17, 2010 Joe This chain saw worked great for the price. Came with a new chain and bar, looked almost brand new out of the box. Just had to adjust the carb a little bit. I cut down two really big oak tees and didn't have a single problem. The tool less chain tightning system works just fine i don't know why other people have problems with it, just follow the instructions. This chain saw is a good choice for the price im very happy with my purchase.
Buyer Beware August 5, 2010 George A. Leonardi (Germantown, TN.) This RECONDITIONED POULAN CHAIN SAW was not functioning properly when I received it & that's been my experience with several reconditioned units that I've gotten from Poulan. They are not rebuilt properly or not quality checked for performance.
The one I received started but would not idle when the trigger was pulled, but raced at top speed, obviously a stuck throttle cable problem (as confirmed by the repair shop that I took it to under the 30 day reconditioned waranttee).
When I got it back home from the shop & started it the chain would not move after it was started & smoke began coming out of the area where the chain drive wheel is, so I had to take it back to the repair shop, because there manual instructs you not to return it to the retailer.
If you decide to take the risk that your's will be OK, be sure to start & use it as soon as get it. If it doesn't work right you have 30 days to get it an authorized repair center for waranttee repair or if your like me you might wait until you need to use it & by the time you discover the problem you'll be beyond 30 days & on your own for repair expense.
Poulan does a very poor job of reconditioning their chain saws.
Excellent saw for the homeowner July 15, 2010 workingman After reading all the reviews about the Saw I agree with the people who can't figure out why some people have said they had so much trouble. I have used the saw for a little over a month and used it to drop and limb OAK trees up to 20" diameter. This saw performed well above expectations. The Quick self adjuster worked great. A few times the thumb wheel was stuck but a quick movement of the bar and it loosed right up. My Only critism was that the saw is a little under powered which was only noticeable on the large diameter trees. The Saw had a New Bar and chain and looked like it had bearly been used. If you follow Poulans starting instructions the saw will fire right up.
Solid, inexpensive chainsaw July 5, 2010 Ed1340 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used Poulan chainsaws for over 20 years. They are good chainsaws (I've used several models from 16"
bars to 20" bars). I also own a $450 Husquvarna Rancher. Is the Poulan saw as good...of course not,
but does the Poulans perform acceptably...a very resounding "Yes!" The Husquvarna is still new in the box, because my Poulans keep working. I can buy 4 Poulans (factory refurbished) for the cost of the Husquvarna. Now for the $64 dollar question...which would I rather have for the money, one Husky or 4 Poulans? I'd take the 4 Poulans hands down because
as good as the Husky is, it can't outlast 4 Poulans. If you are familiar with World War II tank history, the U.S. Sherman tank was vastly inferior to the German Tiger tank, but in the end the Shermans won out because quantity overcame quality. Same here. If you don't have any basic mechanical skills and refuse to read the factory owners manual, don't buy a Poulan chainsaw...in fact don't buy ANY chainsaw...you will be disappointed regardless of the brand you choose.
