Amazon.com Product Description The Porter-Cable 5-Inch Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander is a reliable random orbit sander capable of fast, even material removal without bogging down. The included electronic, variable-speed 3.7 Amp motor provides variable speeds of 2,500 to 6,000 orbits per minute, making for quick, swirl-free material removal. The right-angled gearing system allows the sander to maintain consistent speeds even when pressed down hard onto the work piece. Even with it's ability to offer fast material removal, the sander gives off relatively little vibration, and the large barrel grip allows users to hold and operate the tool without excessive hand fatigue. Additionally, the sander comes with a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty. What's in the Box Sander, PSA pad, abrasive sheet, side handle, operator's manual.
Amazon.com Review If you're looking for a reliable random-orbit sander capable of fast, even material removal without bogging down, this sander is a great choice. Porter-Cable's electronic, variable-speed, 3.7 amp motor provides 2,500 to 6,000 orbits per minute. The right-angled gearing system allows it to maintain consistent speeds even when you're pressing it down into the work. For a sander capable of fast material removal, this product offers relatively little vibration, and the large barrel grip allows users to hold and operate the tool without excessive hand fatigue. While this sander uses hook-and-loop paper--making it easy and reliable to change paper--an adhesive-paper pad is also available. --Brian Trinen

The only sander you will ever need April 9, 2008 I have two of these great sanders. One is 10 years old and about worn out after thousands of hours of grinding with 24 grit ect., kept on board a boat for several years, dropped and beaten up ect. ect. It is still working without a hitch. All I can say is; what a work horse, I bought a new one just in case. This machine only gets meaner when you push it into the work, and leaves only the very- very faintest of tiny swirl marks, conversely it can sand super smooth and can polish, a real work saver and a tough machine
Excellent tool December 1, 2007 I have owned this sander for over ten years now. It has seen countless hours of use on a variety of jobs, mostly auto body. Not all of those uses really what it was designed to do. After about 7 years of use and misuse the pad finally wore out and I upgraded the unit to 6 inch because the discs are easier to purchase in bulk that way. Still runs just like a top. Absolutely the best electric dual action sander for your money. Recently purchased the buffer/polisher for it so it looks like the unit will start getting used even more.
Not hook and loop October 13, 2006 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
The sander I received came with an pad for adhesive sand paper, not hook and loop as described.
A real work horse February 10, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
My Porter Cable 7335 finally gave out. I've been a serious wood working hobbist for many years and this was one of the first tools I ever purchased. As I was taking this sander in for repair, I couldn't help but think just how hard this tool has worked for me over the last 16 years. I've probably used this tool more than any other tool in my shop over those years. It's been a real work horse! It's always been there to do the job, whether it be fast stock removal or fine finishing, without leaving unsightly swirl marks. Hurray for good old American quality built tools!
good, high quality product January 26, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am a professional cabinet maker, we have had a two of these sanders in use in my shop for several years now. Always reliable, with the exception of brushes wearing out about once a year or so. Fast stock removal, with a good overall finish quality. We use the Stickit style self-adhesive sanding discs, after a few thousand discs, the extra cost of hook/loop discs adds up. Stay with the hook/loop for small jobs though, once you take a self-stick paper off, it won't really stick right again. Highly recommended.
