Quickly returned! August 19, 2010 Paul Hempfling Thought I'd save a little and try a "refurbished" item - bad move! When I took the saw out of the box, and its' plastic bag, a whole bunch of (what looked like) sheetrock and sawdust came out too. It was down in the working end of the saw also. The side lever to release the blade wouldn't budge, and when I looked into the blade clamping area, all the metal clamp parts for holding the blade appeared to be very rusty! I just packed it back up and contacted Amazon. Fortunately, they are great to deal with and they promptly accepted it back and issued a credit. Great service from Amazon, but this "refurbished" saw got by somebody! By the way, I bought a brand new one from a 'big box' retailer a week later for about 6 bucks more.
corded Ryobi reciprocating saw June 27, 2010 Borello (USA) Got a Ryobi corded reciprocating saw from the hardware store with a Ridgid demolition blade and cut a tree with it. No problem. It got a bit hot, but it went through it. Stop if it gets hot and continue after a few minutes. With the corded version of this saw, you don't have to worry about batteries running low. Get a 100' extension cord and you are good to go. Forget about chainsaws! I returned 2 chainsaws at this price point of $60, and this outlasted them. Get the corded version of this saw. Skil or Black and Decker might be okay too if 7 amps or more.
Looks like new. June 2, 2010 Joseph Thurston (Shenandoah Valley, Va.) I was very pleased when I received my saw. It looks like new, and works very well. Why buy new when you get such a good product that has been reconditioned. I am always pleased with purchases from Amazon, and if an item is not what you think it should be, it is painless to return. Ryobi cordless tools are very well made, and I would rate them to the much more expensive tools. I have many brands, and the Ryobi is my go to brand. Also the 18 volt batteries hold their charge very well.
Buying Used Reciprocating Saw February 10, 2010 Michael Sallwasser The saw works just fine although the housing is excessively gouged and scratched. I would have expected it to be in better condition.
Amazon screwed up April 6, 2009 joey batts (New Hartford,N.Y.) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
When I ordered this product, Amazon listed it as a new item. I ordered the item only to discover that the listed company only carries reconditioned item. When I received the item it was scratched and scuffed up. I could have bought the product new and cheaper locally due to shipping costs and taxes. Certainly not a good deal for a loyal Amazon customer.
