Good deal - Good Support February 23, 2010 James Hartzell (The boonies of S. Colorado) It starts easy and the extra CCs, compared to my McCulloch 32CC saw, are very noticeable. Re the complaints in other reviews about the plastic chain tensioning gears:
1) One reviewer said that because he had the extended service plan, they'd sent him, w/o charge, replacement metal tensioning components (a whole new chain brake housing with traditional slot-head screw tensioner). I'm happy to report here that even tho I only have the standard refurb warranty, when I called the number in the manual and requested it, they sent it out readily and w/o charge.
2) But now I'm feeling a bit guilty for hassling Poulan for the "upgrade" because I've discovered it's really nice to be able to retension the chain in the field with no tools at all; just loosening the manual bar fastener a bit and turning the plastic tensioning wheel to tension the chain. Having done it several times now, I can't imagine how I could damage the plastic wheel without forcing it.
I'm very impressed with the saw, especially considering the price, AND with the Poulan company's customer friendly ways.
Poulan pro 20 inch chainsaw February 7, 2010 K. Courtney (Newaygo, MI, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This saw was about what I expected. It is somewhat hard to start but does run nice after 15 to 20 pulls on the rope. It has nice power and is extremely lite to handle. The chain and bar installed quickly and the tool less system seems to work as nice as the more expensive saws, it is plastic (like the others)so you do want to follow the instructions so as not to break it. I have used the saw for a couple hours and the chain is still nice and tight. It uses a lot of bar oil, about one tank to a tank of fuel, fuel seems to last a little longer so may have a larger fuel tank. For the money it is a nice saw, looks like mine was used 15 minutes or less. There was in fact a new oregon chain and not the skimpy every other link is a cutter (cheap chain) either, it's a good chain. If you just need a back up saw or one for home owner work you will be ok with this saw. If you burn wood and need to cut a few cords a year, maybe better get something more suited to the job. In all honesty I would say most of the negative comments did not apply to my saw so I would conclude that I am happy with the purchase.

chain saw October 10, 2009 James H. Dekoeyer (northford,ct.) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
While amazon did a great job these chain saws are sub par.The first one you sent was defective, was not gone over very well at the factory. You replaced with another very quickly, thank you for that. This one is even worse, the bar and chain assembly is very hard to put on the saw,it is not sending enough oil to the chain so it is overheating and seizing up the chain.Basically I have two non working chain saws.I do believe the poulan product has declined in quality and would be in your best interest to not sell them.
Upset with Quality October 1, 2009 Logger (Melrose, FL) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought the chainsaw understanding you take a chance on the engine, oiler, etc. When it arrive I had to put on the bar and chain. The bar and chain were not new. The bar was beat up down by the tip, and the chain would not turn when I put it on, because the teeth that move in the bar were severly damaged. If I have to buy a new bar and chain it would have been the cost of a new unit. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS RECONDITIONER THEY ARE A RIPOFF. I have bought reconditioned chainsaws in the past and no one has tried to pawn off a used bar and chain with the saw. I had to file down the teeth to get it to track in the bar to get it to run, unit seems to run ok, but when you order reconditioned I did not think the bar and the chain would have more than half the live gone!
