 Great Deal on a Good Tool! April 17, 2010

The Bostich Compressor and 3-Tool Combo pack is my latest purchase of a reconditioned tool from Amazon. So far, I have been well satisfied with my 6 previous purchases of reconditioned tools. All have worked perfectly, and all have looked new - no signs of previous use. I am convinced that this is the best way to buy top-quality tools.
This Bostich set is no exception. Everything is in great shape (almost) and it all works in a quick test.
I have yet to use it on a real project, but I'm looking forward to next weekend...
Cons:
The "almost" above refers to the box of staples that came with the tools. The box broke open in shipping, and I ended up with a lot of bits and pieces of staple sticks. Other people have commented on the poor packaging, and I agree! That the tools survived shipping when tossed loose in a box without any kind of fill is due to luck and decent handling by FedEx.
How much would it cost them to throw in some packing peanuts (at least!)

I bought this for remodeling our home. It came in a box with no packing, but it looked like new with no scratches. The air hose and air nailers looked new as well. I can't speak for other users, but ours has worked very well. We don't use it professionally, just for home use. The compressor is relatively quiet compared to others we've used and it fills the air tank quickly. We're just finishing up our bathroom and it has proven invaluable. I would buy it again and I recommend it for home remodeling. Amazon sent it right away to the Fed Ex center that's about 10 miles form our home. For some reason, Fed Ex decided to let it sit in their warehouse for a day, then they shipped it to Kentucky to let it sit for 2 more days. I know they have a system that they believe works, but I can't see how shipping freight away from its intended destination and then shipping it back is efficient.

I ordered this combo because I needed a 16 ga trim nailer because my 18 volt dewalt finally broke. I priced all the nailers I was interested in and tis whole set was only about 50 dollars more than just the nailer. The combo came in just two days and was in excellant shape . I have used the 16ga nailer for 5 days now and am very pleased with it. I have loaded the brad nailer and the crown stapler and shot them to make sure they work .I fired the compressor up to make sure it works. Everything seems to just as I had hoped. I am a finish carpenter and have 3 other trim compressors and many other nailers but it hard to pass up a good deal. And this is a good deal. I would recomend this combo. And it comes with a nice satchel just like Indiana Jones has!

Received the compressor with damage to the plastic housing. It works well so I didn't bother to return. There is no packing around the compressor or tool package. Everything is just put in a box & shipped.

The compressor and guns all seem new and work great. The only problem like others have mentioned is the packaging. The first kit I received the handle was broken. I quickly filled out the form online and they sent me another on within a week. Unfortunately the second one was also broken too. This time I talked with Amazon on the phone. They sent me one more which was luckily not broken, but still had no packaging materials. I wonder how much it cost Amazon to mail me 3 compressors and pay to mail 2 back to themselves. They had to lose money on the deal. The compressor kit is a good deal = 5 stars. Amazon customer service was great = 5 stars. The packaging is horrible = 0 stars. Don't order the product expecting it to be unbroken the first time.
